Exam Results Advice

It's coming up to that time of year where everyone is gearing up to receive their exam results. This can be a seriously scary time that can do some damage to you if you are stressing out about it.

Yes, it is a lot to take in, and yes it is very important that you do well. But, it is also helpful to remember that it is not the end of the world if everything does not go to plan! It is okay.

If you do good, that's brilliant! If you don't do so good, and you know that there was nothing else you could've done to prepare for the exam, then you should still be completely and utterly proud of yourself and don't let anyone tell you anything different. There will always be a chance to try again, which you should always try to do. Also, there is always people who can give you help and support.

The number one support mechanism is always your family and friends. If they are good family and friends, they will be happy and support you no matter what your results are. And even if your mum or dad acts a bit crazy if you don't do as well as you thought you would, they will all calm down. You just mean a lot to them and so they care about how you do and what you do.

Another means of support is exam helplines. If you live in Scotland, the one to call would be Skills Development Scotland (SDS). They will be able to listen to any qualms you may have and any worries as well as helping you decide what your next step is. There are plenty of careers advisers that will be on hand to listen and help you make good decisions the day you open that envelope or email that contains your results. These people will be able to help you determine the best course for you, based on your qualifications and what you enjoy!

The number for this helpline is 0808 100 8000 and is free, although operator charges may apply!

I hope this has helped you to relax a little bit about the exams results coming up.

Also, if you know that you will struggle sleeping the night before your results come in, just stay up! Have snacks and movies lined up to keep you amused throughout the night and hopefully this will help take your mind off of things!
